International Blown Glass Symposiums in Lviv
The history of international symposiums of tempered glass in Lviv began in 1989 thanks to the initiative of one of the pioneers of the international studio movement in the post-socialist space A. Bokotei. Symposiums take place in Lviv every three years. Artists, participants of the symposium, have the opportunity to work near the furnaces with a team of highly qualified masters. According to the results of the work there is an exhibition, and the exhibited works remain as a gift to the city. More than 250 artists from 32 countries took part in the international symposiums of tempered glass. The unique collection of collected compositions numbers more than 350 units and is stored in the funds of the National Museum in Lviv. Andrey Sheptytsky and the Museum of Glass and is a reflection of the current state of world glassmaking. The goal of the organizers is to create a glass museum with a permanent exhibition, and thus - the opportunity to exhibit in the future a complete collection of symposium results.
The next 12th International Blown Glass Symposium in Lviv will take place in 2022 on the basis of Lviv National Academy of Arts and Glass Museum in Lviv. We kindly invite all artists and admirers of glass art to take part in it. It will be a next great opportunity to meet old friends, to communicate, to teach and to create.
